About FiberGnome:
Hi, I’m Jenna Hycner, the FiberGnome and creator of the Knitting Academy™.
More than 30 years ago, I happened upon a magazine in a grocery store with a knitting pattern for a sweater that I just had to have. I didn’t know a single knitter, and having never knit before, I relied completely on that magazine (which was something like Better Homes & Gardens™ and not a craft-centric magazine)for instructions on how to knit. I no longer have the magazine, but I do have the sweater. It was, after all, the start of a life long passion.
Aside from finding a craft that brings me so much joy, I also learned that you can accomplish that which other people may think you can’t just through desire. I had no one to tell me that the project – a seed stitch sweater with shaping, banding and a buttonhole– was too challenging as a first project. To me, it was what I wanted, I was determined to do it and when I look at it now, there is little I would do differently on that particular project.
I want other knitters to have that fearless pursuit of knitting. That is how I came to develop The Knitting Academy™.
About FiberGnome Project Bags
When you have a love of something, you tend to collect it (right? I’m not alone in this am I?). Which then means you are looking for places to store your bounty - that is pretty much how the FiberGnome project bags came about.
Each bag is carefully handcrafted, with curated fabrics and unique styles.
About The Knitting Academy™
The Knitting Academy™ is set up as a series of classes, each one a stand-alone class, meant to either: introduce a knitter to something new, improve a technique or generally refine your skills.
The Knitting Academy™ is not a learn to knit program, at least, not yet. There is an assumption that the student has had some knitting experience.
I am grateful to you for your interest in the FiberGnome and/or The Knitting Academy™.
My logos for FiberGnome and The Knitting Academy were created by Erin Clayton with Erineen Designs.
